Manny Oteyza is a Los Angeles, Cincinnati based filmmaker and owner of Manny O Productions. A graduate of the American Film Institute, Producing program. Manny produced the award-winning feature film documentary, BLACKFISH, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and subsequent worldwide distribution by Magnolia Pictures, CNN Films with over 21 million viewers and NBC Universal. Shortlisted for the 2014 Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy Awards) for Best Feature Documentary. It’s impact on marine mammals in captivity and SeaWorld became known as the “Blackfish effect”.
Manny began his career in narrative script development at 20th Century Fox, Sony Studios to Producing over 50+ hours of cable programming for the various Discovery Networks including Animal Planet, Sci Channel, TLC and National Geographic Channels. His other works include branded corporate content, for ACTIVEION and educational series for Disney Educational Products, Solving for X with Bill Nye and the environmental series STUFF HAPPENS for Planet Green.
